A rare opportunity for collectors and lovers of mid-century designer pieces. An iconic spherical ‘ball’ vase from the famous ‘Rimini Blu’ series, designed in the 1960s by the legendary art director Aldo Londi. This original vintage piece is in immaculate condition (Mint Condition), completely free from chips or flaws, and bears the stamped mark ‘FLAVIA MONTELUPO ITALY’ on the base. This historic mark was used by the Bitossi factory as early as the 1960s to identify the most prestigious production batches intended for export, certifying the piece’s absolute authenticity and date of manufacture.
The vase is made of refractory clay and decorated entirely by hand using the characteristic stencil-engraving technique. The spherical surface features alternating horizontal bands of embossed geometric motifs (interlaced friezes, dots and vertical lines). The vibrant colour scheme combines the iconic shades of cobalt blue, turquoise and sea green beneath a glossy crystalline finish that lends the object an extraordinary lustre and chromatic depth.
