Marcel Wanders (born 1963) is one of the leading figures in contemporary Dutch and international design. A designer and co-founder of Moooi, he has developed a distinctive language combining craftsmanship, technology, decoration and references to tradition.

The Knotted Chair (1996), created by weaving high-tech fibres using a process inspired by traditional knotting techniques, marked a defining moment in his work and contributed to his international recognition.

Throughout his career, Wanders has collaborated with companies such as Flos and Alessi, creating objects that have become representative of contemporary design, from the Skygarden and Zeppelin lamps to the Circus Collection for Alessi. For Moooi, he also designed pieces such as the Monster Chair, in which decoration, irony and figurative elements become part of the object itself.

His work combines industrial production with decorative culture, transforming furniture, lighting and everyday objects through a theatrical and instantly recognisable visual language.
