Rare complete 12-piece set of the famous "Smoke" glass, an absolute icon of Italian design designed by Joe Colombo in 1963 for the historic glassware manufacturer Arnolfo di Cambio.
Finding a vintage lot so numerous and completely intact represents a unique opportunity for collectors and mid-century design enthusiasts.
The characteristic asymmetric and off-center stem was designed by Joe Colombo for a precise ergonomic function: it allows the glass to be held between the thumb and index finger, leaving the other fingers free to hold a cigar and the other hand completely free for social interactions. Each piece is entirely mouth-blown in premium crystal.
This masterpiece of Italian Modernism is part of the permanent collections of the most prestigious museums in the world, including the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York and the Triennale di Milano (Design Museum).
