An exclusive pair of traditional round boxes showcasing the prestigious and complex Tsugaru-nuri lacquering technique in the refined Kara-nuri style. This distinctive, visually three-dimensional pattern in rich ochre, dark brown, and reddish tones is achieved through a painstaking, multi-month process of layering dozens of coats of natural Urushi lacquer, meticulously hand-polished by artisans from the Aomori prefecture.
The set consists of two nesting pieces designed for a perfect fit, with the larger box measuring 14 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height. Selected and distributed in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s by the well-known interior design brand Romani Furniture as elegant decorative accessories for the home decor of the era, the boxes are in excellent vintage condition. A timeless piece of Asian art.
