Exclusive square box of fine Japanese craftsmanship, featuring the famous and complex Tsugaru-nuri lacquering technique in the refined Kara-nuri variant. This unmistakable, visually three-dimensional pattern in shades of ochre, brown, and red is achieved by layering dozens of coats of natural Urushi lacquer, patiently hand-polished for months by artisans from Aomori Prefecture.
Selected and distributed in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s by the well-known furniture brand Romani Furniture as elegant accessories for the interior design of the era, the box is in good vintage condition. Please note some minor surface scratches on the rim of the lid, which are normal for its age and use; they do not compromise the overall aesthetic impact or integrity of the piece.
