Lamp, designed by the Italian designer Vico Magistretti in 1965 for the Italian furniture and lighting company Artemide, which began production in 1967. It is one of the most significant industrial design products of the 20th century and has become one of the symbols of Italian design worldwide. Awarded the Compasso d'Oro Prize in 1967. It forms part of the permanent collection of the Triennale Design Museum in Milan and the permanent collection of MoMA in New York, and has been exhibited in many museums dedicated to design, contemporary art and furniture around the world.
This is a table lamp, offering either direct or diffused light, which is also designed for wall mounting. As one might guess, the concept is inspired by an astronomical phenomenon. Indeed, the lamp allows the user to dim the light source as they wish. First or second series (between the late 1960s and the late 1970s)-
